The Creme d’Argent is my passion project breed. Cremes are currently listed on The Livestock Conservancy’s list as “threatened” and are considered a rare breed. Being a rare breed means culling even harder for quality so that new breeders are set up for success rather than failure.

My cremes are generally quite docile and curious. Personally, I feel like they have more spirit and personality than most of the larger meat breeds, which is another reason that I find them so enjoyable.

Creme d’Argents were initially developed in France in the 1800’s. Prior to 1924, they were imported into the United States. After their arrival, the original Creme d’Argent was crossed with breeds such as the golden Palomino to create the larger meat rabbit that ARBA recognizes today.

The Creme d’Argent has a very unique coat color. While brushing their fur from back to front, their creamy outer color reveals a bright orange under color. Cremes are considered a “Universal Rabbit” and are an excellent choice for homesteading due to their high yield meat-to-bone ratio and beautiful pelts.
